2010-2011 New Beginnings
ADAMS HARBOR partners with ST. FRANCIS....With much anticipation Adams Harbor is moving in with/ and partnering with a wonderful organization in Los Angeles, St .Francis Center! St. Francis Center feeds the homeless 6 days a week, offers a food pantry to low income families several times a week and have begun an educational program! Adams Harbor couldn't be more delighted for partnering up with this organization that has welcomed us with open arms.
On November 20, 2010- our first Saturday service in the St. Francis Center shall take place and Adams Harbor will continue to show movies and make the hot meal given to the needy a positive experience every Saturday thereafter!
On December 18, 2010- Adams Harbor and St. Francis Center partner to have their first partnered event: THE CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL!! This event will be much larger than years past where it will take up an entire "block" this year where food, gifts and medical services will be provided for the homeless and low income families in the LA area.
Adams Harbor and St. Francis thank the community for your continued support and plan on making the fast approaching 2011 year productive and filled with much more growth for both organizations!

Update about AH
Hello Friends,
Adams Harbor just had a wonderful week full of support, friendship and a sensational team of Board of Director's that made things happen!
From our fundraiser on April 23, to our first Beach Clean-Up on April 25, and the many continued donations trickling in we thank everyone for your time and dedication to making a difference through our organization.
Adams Harbor strengthened by the love and support makes our efforts effortless.
I'd like to thank all the Board of Directors such as Tabitha Nieto for chairing our first Spring Bash, Ivonne Nieto and Monica Moreno for coordinating the raffle, Danny Franco for designing tickets and our event honoree's plaque, Gloria Gonzalez and Lydia Ascencio for manning the event door, and Angie Valle for the wonderful donation additions of the night (loved the "kissing booth" costume!)our entire team truly made the evening memorable for all!
The first Beach Cleaning was also a great success and we had families arrive; it was wonderful to watch all ages participate and enjoy our cleaning the environment!
Pictures of both events can be viewed on ADAMS HARBOR facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Adams-Harbor/83268687061?ref=ts.
Adams Harbor thanks you again for your support and we remind you donations and volunteering opportunities are year round.

The Strong Dust Themselves Off and Stand-Up
Dear Friends,
Adams Harbor has continued focused and positive! So many positive responses have been appreciated and I would love to see this blog grow with "friends" please add yourselves and share this Blog with others because your support also comes through this way. :)
Many of you e-mailed me personally and asked what YOU can do, well I will tell you, our upcoming Fundraiser will be a great show of support! Our Fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 23rd, please keep that date reserved for Adams Harbor. This Fundraiser marks our first in 2010, and our second as a new and dynamic Board of Directors. In these times monetary support will go a long way, especially while searching for a new location.
During this time, we have been faced with thoughts of feeding the homeless on sidewalks, or bike riding sandwiches to our 200 men, women and children that rely on our Food Kitchen every Saturday. In these difficult economic times we remain focused on assisting with food, medical services, hair cuts and education.
Continuing stronger than ever, with a location or not, we are also starting our Environmental focus and have begun a partnership with the California Coastal Commission and Long Beach City Water by Adopting-A-Beach and starting a Beach Cleaning focus that will begin April 24th and run year-round.
Adams Harbor expanding its vision has now gone from being a Food Kitchen, to providing Medical Services and Education, to addressing Environmental issues.
Rather than cower down due to a 90 Day notice, we are focused and standing for what we believe in and going full speed ahead. And with your support, we are dusting ourselves off!

Non-profit given 90 day notice
What can a person say about being asked to leave a site, a Church no less, where it has given you a place to call home for over 10 years?
Adams Harbor began to grow over the past 2 years, new board, making money, servicing more people, offering more to the community, building a relationship with the congregation since there had been isolation prior to this time... so why is it that a Church would begin to show us negativity in this time? Well, I'll get back to this later.
Now, we are concerned with so much more. We feed 200 people every Saturday and these people refer to our non-profit as the one that gives a healthier food choice, as the non-profit that gives several things a month (such as a movie showing, medical screenings, medical education, music, and friendship) and now we will be closing our doors at our present location come June, and we need a new location.
Let me just say that a few people wanted to give us 6 months, while the main priest then stated "that is too long, 90 days."
Being that I am very spiritual I find it difficult to speak negatively about the hierarchy of a Church, whether or not I am a member of that congregation, but there has been serious questions as far as the true nature of this establishment.
We leave with disappointment, but look forward to new horizons.
Please contact Adams Harbor on facebook for more detail on our outreach.
I believe in positive energy and positive outcomes,
